Last week we’ve visited the studio of the contemporary artist Joseph Klibansky. He was born in Cape Town, South Africa but moved to the Netherlands in his early years. His work reflects today’s world – better yet: tomorrow’s world. Inspired by technology, urbanism, fashion, architecture, design, travel and music, he gives shape to a world that balances between utopia and specter.
His paintings, collages, prints, and sculptures are dynamic and imaginative, with a surrealistic touch.
His preferred media are bronze, gold, and stereolithography for the sculptural works and a mix of photography, painting and silk screening for his pictorial practice.
Even though Joseph is the creative mastermind behind the art, the business is run by his entire family and for me, that creates so much compassion. His family is utterly proud and that shows in their dedication and the way they handle their business.
After visiting Klibansky’s studio yesterday, I am determined to save up and purchase one of his original creations one day.
Have you heard of him before and what do you think of his artwork?
