When Christiaan and I visited Paris last month, we were so in luck with the weather we had. The skies were clear blue, the sun was shining and the air was crisp and cold… Isn’t that the best forecast you could have when you’re going on a city trip?
I was very grateful we traveled to Paris by car, so I wasn’t limited to the luggage I could bring, haha. But bringing so many options makes it also very hard to choose a particular outfit when you’re on the go. I had to opt for something comfortable because I knew we would be strolling many kilometers through Paris. Really many kilometers that is, because when we arrived in the city of love, we found out that the subway was on strike. Yikes!
The other challenge for me was I wanted to look Parisian chic but also be dressed warm enough to beat the cold. I choose to wear my wool calf-length trenchcoat, leather pointed ankle boots with a low heel, a warm wool turtleneck, and my favorite Levi’s Mile High Skinny Jeans. Tip: on the cold days, I always wear this string bodysuit to make sure my lower back and stomach are being kept warm.
I thought the trench would make the look classic enough to fit the Parisian scene. Basically, when I don’t know what to wear I always end up wearing an all-black-everything-outfit. In my opinion, that always works! What do you think? What is your solution when you need to beat the cold but also want to look fancy?
Bisous, Layla
